A Short Guide to Bulgaria
Bulgaria, a small country in southeast Europe that’s situated on the Balkan Peninsula, is a splendorous country dotted with mountains and has lots of past and present culture and friendly folks who offer visitors plenty of hospitality and traditional warmth.
Bulgaria doesn’t have the sightseer attractions that its southern neighbors in Turkey and Greece do. Bulgaria does bring in tourists even to the Black Sea resorts which are quite popular. After all, these resorts are inexpensive to stay in and are amid sandy beaches, safe seas and a sunny climate, all of which are captivating and alluring.
While Bulgaria is well known for the sea resorts, another important characteristic for the country is its mountain regions. Each mountain region varies from one another; one set of mountain ranges can be seen with snow covered peaks while another set of mountain ranges bares green slopes, forests, mineral spas and springs and valleys where there is a delicate scent of flowers and herbs.
In the heart of Bulgaria lies the “Valley of Roses” and it produces a large quantity of rose oil, which is the biggest reason that Bulgaria is nicknamed “Land of Roses. At the Vitosha Mountains base is the capital Sofia, which has a great amount of architectural history that includes museums and monuments. For people who wish to go skiing, the Pirin and Rila mountains produce a great setting for ski resorts. There’s also the Rila Monastery and Pirin National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. People who wish to do some hiking might want to try the Balkan Range, a 329-mile mountain chain that crosses the entire country.
