Jordan is a small and friendly country situated in the Middle East and bordering the countries of Saudi Arabia, Israel and Iraq. It contains numerous ancient and famous architectural and historic sights. Firstly there are the ruins found at Petra, an ancient city of huge palaces carved out of solid rock. It was actually the location of the end of the third instalment of the Indiana Jones film series.

Secondly, there is the spectacular desert sand dunes of the Wadi Rum, best explored by four by four jeeps.

Jordan has a rich and varied history. Being the set for numerous famous personalities and events from various ancient and famous civilizations. Take time to peruse buildings from the era of the crusades and the Byzantium period plus numerous old castles and warrior forts. Besides the obvious historical sights, Jordan remains a modern and well-organised country. With numerous quality hotels, good eateries and shopping venues, Jordan is quite a good place for visitors offering adequate facilities.
