Cleveland, Ohio sits on Lake Erie’s south shore. Cleveland was established close to Cuyahoga River’s mouth in 1796. In 1832 the Erie-Ohio Canal that links Lake Erie to the Ohio River was completed and Cleveland began a spurt of industrial growth.
